Good Morning, my name is David Rojas and I am the webmaster at Folklorico.com
that has the article on the Molokans in the Valle de Guadalupe in Baja California,
Mexico. I first would like to thank you for the link that you have provided
to my article on the Molokans, it has generated a lot of traffic and interest.
I have been asked to provide a page with e-mail addresses for the purpose of
contacting each other and I see that you already have it set up. How do I get
these e-mail addresses to you and would you be interested in maintaining this
list which may be a lot of work. Please respond with the information.
I am also working with the Museo Comunitario del Valle de Guadalupe on
building a Web Site, would you have any interest in hosting it. It would seem
more appropriate for you to do this work than me for all I know is dancing and
history, and that is where I want to focus my attention for this requires too
much work.

P.S. Please don't misunderstand, I love this work and have made a lot of
friends and actually went to Valle de Guadalupe and helped someone find
his relatives (this was very rewarding), I just can't spend the time necessary
to do justice to this work.

I have been debating whether to do a research paper on them or not and now that I know there is another scholar I would offer you the opportunity to use y contact in Valle de Guadalupe to create a research project. I want to document and archive all the pertinent information that is housed at the Museo Comunitario and perhaps upload some of it onto the net. Do you know archeologist Teresa Muranaka who dug up and cataloged thousands of artifacts when returned them to Baja Norte? Much of what she found is in the museum. I know she indexed everything she had. up and maybe post announcementes and get a guest/member book going. I So the museum will have e-mail? will be visiting Francisco in Valle de Guadalupe soon and perhaps Send us a brochure, if they have one, and shoot a roll of outside and inside scenes. With this we can make a museum homepage in a few hours. make a date where we as researchers can go down for a week or weekend of work. I'll contact you soon. I hope for you to meet George Mohoff, who devoted a lot of time and money to publishing his book on Molokans in Mexico. Most L.A. Molokans see him now as the Mexico expert. Asking for his support is an appropriate courtesy. Dr. Story here has already volunteered my time and her support. Important unfinished business for me in Guadalupe is accurately mapping the original homes and plots. The map Mohoff published was my last draft. My next step is to fly over the valley and take video and film photos. I'm hoping that I can use geographic mapping software on a graphics computer to produce a high resolution very accurate map from the photos. This software allows one to join the images into one big image. Before you came along, I was planning to beg the Dept of Anthropology at the University of Arizona for help, but you're at UCSB which has the largest map library on the west coast and an excellent geography department with many such computers. Maybe it would be easier for you to ask around campus. If they can give you as faculty access it would be great. If there is a technical reason why I can't do the work there (I'm not a student, no insurance) then perhaps we could propose it as a senior project or something. I would need to supervise the work, and consult with Mohoff on the final editing. Hello Mr. Conovaloff:
I just read your article on the home page proposal that I made and am willing to pass along the information requested to the appropriate departments and contact you in the near future about their response. If you could please send me any additional information about what else is needed so I can get to work on it as soon as possible.
>> I need a graphics computer with mapping software, typical in Geography Departments. I need to fly over Guadalupe Valley in a small plane with a video camera and 35 mm camera to take many photos which show the fences and old foundations.
The best photos will be scanned and joined to make one large detailed photo of the town. Then I'll scan the map I made of Guadalupe and adjust it to the new photo.
I am planning a trip to Valle de Guadalupe to take pictures and document as much as possible. I will also ask the Universidad Autonoma de baja Claifornia in Ensenada to see if they would be willing to help in this project and since they are only 10 miles away from the museum,

maybe they can also help Francisca, the museum curator, to learn how to use the computer that I will be donating to them next month.
